Rage Against the Machine is one of the most iconic bands of the 1990's. Beginning with their self titled debut album in November of 1992, their style of heavy metal and rap would revolutionize the music industry. Ultimately, the band would only release 3 original albums and 1 cover album, but their impact has made all bands since their prime, pale in comparison.
Selling over 16 millions albums in total, the domination of the band would last less than 10 years, formally disbanding in October of 2000. In the following years, several CDs and DVDs of live performances would be released. In the 2 decades since their disbandment, Rage Against the Machine would play a handful of concerts and reunite again in 2022, for a US and European tour that had to be canceled due to an injury sustained by Zach de la Rocha in the second show.
The band, during their prime and in subsequent years, has been known for their extreme leftist and revolutionary ideas. They often make political statements on and off stage and donate to charitable causes. They have also visited and interviewed political prisoners in foreign countries. Sometimes labeled hypocrites for making money off their success, they often give back to the community and are known to practice what they preach.
